Bhilai Corporation Bhilai team emerged as winner of Kho-Kho Competition organised on the first day of two-day Khel Madai began on Saturday. Latmeta Rajnandgaon, Jhit Durg and Pauwara bagged second, third and fourth prize respectively. In Gilli-Danda, Raipur defeated Bilaspur and Patan defeated Durg by 24 points. In Sur-Pittula, Durg defeated Balod by 37 points, Raigarh defeated Janjgir by 21 points. In Tuve Langrachi, Patan defeated Durg by 8 points. In Sankhli, girls of Durg defeated Patan.
With an aim to promote traditional sports of Chhattisgarh, two days ‘Khel Madai’ began at Patan on Saturday. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association in association with Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Chhattisgarh, organising the sports event to encourage tradition sports which has been the motto of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
OSD to the Chief Minister Ashish Verma was the chief guest of the inaugural programme. Sports and Youth Welfare Department Director Shweta Sinha, CGOA secretary general Gurucharan Singh Hora, G S Bhambra, Bashir Ahmed Khan, Sahi Ram Jakhar, Kailash Murarka, Patan Nagar Panchayat president Bhupendra Kashyap were present on the occasion. Also present were Devendra Chandravanshi, Kamlesh Mishra, Manish Dewangan, Arpita, Abhash Dubey, Tarun Bijora, Dr Atul SHukla, Rupendra Chouhan, Dr Dinesh Namdev and Sachin Dongre.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be the chief guest of Chhattisgarh Khel Mahotsav on Sunday.
Traditional sports like Kho-Kho, Gilli-Danda, Gedi, Udhau Puk, Tua Langrachi, Sankhli, Sur Pittlu, Fugadi, Bhoura Navgodia are being held here under the Khel Madai.
Around 500 youths from districts of Durg, Rajnandgaon, DHamtari, Kanker, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazaar, Janjgir, Bilaspur, Bemetara, Balod, Surajpur, Raigarh and Raipur are participating in the event.
