A fruit-vendor named Taufiq Bashir Mujawar was arrested for cruelty against animals after he stabbed a cow in the abdomen and limb for eating papaya from his fruit cart at Murud in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.
Taufiq Bashir Mujawar (35) runs his fruit cart at Murud. On Tuesday, a stray cow ate one papaya from his fruit cart. Furious Taufiq attacked the bovine with a knife in stomach and leg.
The police were notified about the incident by a bystander. Police took the injured cow to a nearby veterinary medical centre, where the cow was given medicines to stop the bleeding and her wounds were bandaged. Police also took Mujawar into custody and booked him under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act before producing him to the Court, which sent him to judicial remand.
