A Muslim boy Layeek Khan alias Safeeq Khan murdered a Hindu girl named Neetu after she refused his marriage proposal at the Begum Vihar area of Rohini in Northwest Delhi on February 19, 2021.

A Cousin of the deceased girl lodged a complaint with the Begum Vihar Police against Layeek Khan, saying that Khan thrashed his sister to death with a hammer. Based on the complaint, Begum Vihar Police registered an FIR under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

In his complaint, Kaushal Kumar said Safeeq and his sister knew each other. Before shifting to Delhi, Neetu, her two brothers and her father lived in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, where they come to know each other. He also visited Neetu in Delhi. But, for the last few months, he was pressurizing Neetu to marry him, but she always refused.

On February 19, Layeek had visited Neetu at around 5 pm. Kaushal saw Layeek carrying a hammer when he came to visit Neetu. Layeek sent Kaushal to fetch chicken from the market as he would having dinner at their place. Kaushal left for the market after taking permission from Neetu.
As Kaushal returned at 7:45 pm, he saw Layeek hastily locking the door of the house. Kaushal attempted to question Layeek, but the latter just scuttled off. A confused Kaushal entered the home and waited for Neetu to return.
After sometime, Kaushal narrated entire incident to Neetu’s mother, who came a little later. They called on mobile of Neetu, which was ringing on from inside home. As they broke open the lock of Neetu’s room, they found her lying in pool of blood. She was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where the Doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Kaushal accused Layeek Khan of killing his sister in a fit of rage as she refused his marriage proposal.
