Raigarh Police safely rescued a six-year-old abducted boy by arresting three kidnappers.
“By arresting three kidnappers, police have safely rescued Shivansh Agrawal (6), who was abducted from Kharsia, within seven hours of the crime. The boy was rescued from Jharkhand under ‘Operation Shivansh’,” said Raigarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Singh.
SP Singh further informed that the arrested accused abductors were identified as Khilawan Das Mahant alias Nikhil (28), hailing from Janjgir-Champa; Amar Das Mahant (23) and Sanjay Sidar (30), both residents of Navapara Kharsia. Preliminary police investigation revealed that Khilawan Das Mahant, who worked as a cook in Shivansh’s house and recently removed from the job, hatched the entire plan of kidnapping.
After being informed about the kidnapping on February 20, a police team was constituted and an operation was launched immediately to ensure safe rescue of the child, added SP Singh.
“Investigation revealed that Khilawan abducted the child by luring him with edible items during the evening hours of Feb 20. The accused had a plan of demanding Rs 25 lakh as ransom from Shivansh’s family and handover the child to a notorious gang in Jharkhand,” said SP Singh.
Based on inputs about the abductors heading towards Jharkhand, police team in the neighbouring state was alerted about the incident resulting in arrest of the trio as well as safe rescue of the boy by Khunti police, said SP Singh, elaborating that the four-wheeler (CG 13 AE 7025) and other materials used in the crime have been seized.
An offence in this connection was registered with Kharsia police station under Sections 368, 120 (B), 34 of IPC and Section 25 of Arms Act. Impressed by the swift action of Raigarh Police, Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi made an announcement of Rs 1 lakh for the team while IG Dangi announced a reward of Rs 10,000.
