Energy Minister reviews works of Central and Western Region Power Distribution Company

Special attention must be paid to recovery of electricity bills in order to improve the economic situation of power distribution companies. Recovery of electricity bills should be started with big defaulters first. Power supply in areas where mass power theft is taking place may be cut after discussion with public representatives of the area.
Energy Minister Pradyumn Singh Tomar issued these instructions during a review of the works of Central and Western Region Power Distribution Companies.
Purchase meters as per installation capacity
The Energy Minister said that priority of purchasing electrical material should be decided on the availability of budget. Guidelines should be made for purchase of material and must be followed strictly. Meters should be purchased as per capacity. High capacity transformers should be installed, so that they do not burn due to overloading. Replace the transformer immediately where there is overloading.
The Energy Minister said that action should be taken against the concerned assistant and junior engineer along with imposing a fine on the company for not repairing the group meter on time. He said that action should be taken against the nodal officer after investigation.
Tomar said that such negligence should not be repeated. Such a formula should be made that all officers get equal work.
To stop privatization, walk must be result oriented
The Energy Minister said that to stop privatization of power distribution companies, it is necessary that we all work together for better results. All officers should understand their responsibility and discharge it faithfully.
Bills based on estimated readings should not be given
The Energy Minister said that electricity bills based on estimated readings should not be given to any consumer in the cities. The actual bill should be issued and also recovered. The results of smart meters should be assessed. The roster of the meter reader should be fixed and inspected. Better maintenance should be ensured so as to reduce tripping.
Principal Secretary Energy Sanjay Dubey said that the instructions given by the Energy Minister should be strictly followed. CMD Akash Tripathi, MD Western Region Power Distribution Company Amit Tomar, MD Central Region Power Distribution Company Vishesh Gadpale and other officers were virtually present.
