Former leaders paid tributes in Assembly

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly paid tributes to former parliamentary secretary Om Prakash Rathia, former state minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh Dr Bhanupratap Gupta, former parliamentary secretary of undivided Madhya Pradesh Laxman Ram and former member of Chhattisgarh Assembly Roshanlal as the proceedings of the second day of the Budget Session began at 11 am on Tuesday.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant expressed profound grief over the demise of these leaders between December 30, 2020 and February 1, 2021. The Speaker mentioned in his message that Rathia passed away on December 30, 2020 follo9wed by Dr Gupta breathed his last on January 13, 2021, Laxman Ram died on January 30, 2021 and Roshanlal passed on February 1, 2021.

Rathia had started his political career as member of district panchayat and was elected from Dharamjaigarh Assembly seat on BJP ticket in 2002, 2008 respectively. The Speaker described him as a social worker and true leader.

Dr Gupta was election in 1997 from Jarhagaon constituency in the undivided Madhya Pradesh. He was a skilled doctor, social worker and senior leader, said the Speaker. Similarly, the Speaker said late Laxman Rao was a very good administrator and social worker. The Speaker also paid tributes to Roshanlal.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Leader of Opposition Dharam Lal Kaushik, JCC-J leader Dharamjeet Singh, BJP leader Narayan Chandel, Punnulal Mohle Keshav Chandra and Shivratan Sharma paid tributes to the former leaders.
