District Education Officer (DEO) A N Banjara has issued notice to principal and management of Ryan International School, Raipur, on Monday asking for clarification on offline examination of students. The DEO asked the school to submit reply within three days from the date of the notice.

The DEO said in the notice that the school was forcing its students to be present in the school for offline examination despite the fact Covid cases are again on the rise. It will be considered as ignorance of Covid on the part of school, said the DEO. If reply is not found satisfactory, action will be taken against school as per defined rules, said the DEO.

The DEO has also issued notice to principals of all the private schools in the district for violation of Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE)-2009 and High Court order.

The DEO said that, parents are being harassed/forced to pay school fees of their wards. Further, students are being deprived of online classes and examination for the non-payment of fees which is not in the interest of students. As per a high court order on July 9, 2020, no student should be deprived of education in any form. Only tuition fees should be collected from the parents, said the high court. If parents are unable to pay the fees in a single installment then they should be allowed to pay in parts, said the High Court in its order. But it has been found that private schools are not following these orders. The schools should follow the court order, the DEO said.
