Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority (CGSLSA) has launched a campaign christened “Karuna” to extend much-needed assistance to those elderly persons, whose children are either reluctant in providing them with their maintenance or in taking necessary care.
The campaign has been launched under the supervision of Chief Justice of High Court of Chhattisgarh and Patron-in-Chief P R Ramachandra Menon and Executive Chairman of the CGSLSA Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra.
Member Secretary of the CGSLSA Siddharth Aggarwal said that the CGSLSA has written a letter to chairman and secretary of District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) with necessary directions.
All DLSA secretaries or incharge secretary have been directed to visit old-age homes falling under their jurisdiction and identify these kind of old-age needy people.
Once the old-age people will be identified, then counselling of their children will be carried out with the assistance of panel lawyers to make their children realised about their pious duty towards their parents.
If children are not convinced and do not turn out to be ready to discharge their obligation then with the assistance of panel lawyers, a case for getting their maintenance will be filed in the court of competent jurisdiction. All expenses of filing the case shall be borne by the CGSLSA. Videos of these old-age people will also be prepared and uploaded on Janchetna CGSLSA YouTube channel, the Member Secretary added.
