Cases of kidnapping and abduction of girls will be studied and reports will be submitted

A contract was signed between the Women’s Crime Branch of Police Headquarters and School of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on March 11 for the study of prevention of cases of abduction and kidnapping of girls in the state and suggestions related to it.
The contract was signed by Additional Director General of Police (Women Crime) police Headquarters Pragya Richa Shrivastava and Girish Sharma, Director, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Home Rajesh Rajaura and Director General of Police Vivek Johri were present.
According to the MoU, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis will study the causes of girls and women going missing, being kidnapped and abducted apart from the study of their social and economic conditions. On the basis of this study, suggestions for prevention of these crimes, amendments in the existing law and order, aspects related to the participation of the concerned departments and positive suggestions in the police process will be proposed. The institute will submit its first report in 4 months.
Expressing concern over the cases of missing and abducted girls at the Collector-SP Conference, Chief Minister Chouhan, had issued instructions to give suggestions and propose policy based for preventive measures in these cases, after detailed study of the reasons for missing girls, police action and rehabilitation of girls. In adherence to these instructions, the Home Department has marked the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis for this study.
Chief Minister Chouhan informed that the investigation and recovery of missing girls are included in the priorities of the state government. In the state, 2 thousand 444 girls in the month of January and 885 girls in the month of February have been recovered from the state and outside the state under Operation Muskan. In these pending cases of abduction and kidnapping, authorization letters are also being given to the parents of the girls.
