A Congress leader Azad Ali was arrested for alleged harassment of a woman in Dehradun on Tuesday. The woman lodged a complaint that Ali was harassing her with obscene and abusive messages over the phone.
According to the reports, the complainant is a bank manager came in contact with Azad Ali over WhatsApp after the former contact her regarding insurance policy. However, Ali didn’t stop at the policy, he started sending vulgar messages to her. Woman’s husband also warned Azad Ali to stop sending obscene messages, but Ali misbehaved with him too.
After recording the calls with Ali, the couple lodged a complaint with the police, which arrested Ali and produced him in a Court. Ali had been booked for sexual harassment in 2006 also. There are two more cases against him at Patel Nagar and City Police Station.
Although, Ali was granted bail by the Court, State Congress Committee President Pritam Singh reportedly had expelled Azad Ali from the party.
