UTTAR PRADESH: Hindu priest found dead, killers slit his throat in UP

A Sadhu was found dead in a field near a temple in Bulandshahar of Uttar Pradesh on March 29, 2021. The killers had slit the throat of 50-year-old Sadhu named Ashok Kumar with a sharp-edged weapon.

As the brutally killing of a Hindu priest sparked outrage, police has ramped up security deployment. Ashok Kumar, a native of Selampur’s Kailavan village just a week ago, to work as a priest at famous Dhalwale temple in Aanchru Kala village of Shikarpur. Police send the body for post-mortem.

Attacks on Hindu priests/Sadhus have been increased in the recent past. Just on March 22, 2021, a Sadhu was assaulted by police personnel in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. The personnel also snatched Rs 1.25 lakhs, a mobile phone worth Rs 12000 and utensils from Sadhu before throwing him outside the police station.  There had been at least 11 such reported cases of attack on Hindu Sadhus in 2020.
