Muslim mob stopped Hindus from performing Holika Dahan ritual ahead of Holi festival


A mob of around 300 Muslims stopped Hindus from performing the Holika Dahan ritual on the eve of Holi in Akola of Maharashtra. A video of Muslim mob dousing Holika fire near an ancient temple in a Muslim majority area has gone viral on social media platforms.

According to reports, Hanuman temple is located at Pola Chowk of Akola, which is dominated by Muslim population. On the eve of Holi festival, when the Hindus were ritualistic and symbolic pyre of Holika, a mob of around 300 Muslims surrounded the Hindus. After a scuffle between the members of Muslim and Hindu communities, some Muslims doused the Holika fire.

The Temple in Muslim-dominated are was neglected for a long time, but in recent times, Hindus have restarted performing rituals and Puja.
