An 18-year-old BJP supporter was shot dead by Trinamool Congress (TMC) henchmen while another BJP worker’s body was found hanging at his residence on a day of polling marred by violence in West Bengal.
In the first case, TMC goons shot dead BJP worker Ananda Burman when had gone to cast vote at a polling centre of Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar. When the polling was underway, a large mob of TMC goons armed with guns and bombs ambushed the voters.
TMC goons opened indiscriminate firing to scare away the voters and one bullet hit 18-year-old BJP worker Ananda Burman, who had gone to cast vote for the first time. Burman was rushed to the hospital, but to no avail as doctors declared him dead on arrival. BJP Mondol President said the Police had yet to arrest the perpetrators.
The second incident was reported from Uluberia Purba district, where a BJP worker named Nanda Nashkar was found hanging at his residence. Nashkar was an active BJP worker. According to the reports, TMC goons had given death threats to Nanda Nashkar.
