Industrialists, who are often at the crosshair of Commies and Liberals, rose to the occasion as they announced supply free oxygen to the hospitals. Following the suit of Mukesh Ambani, now Jindal Steel, Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel, Tata Steel and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) managements have also announced free oxygen supply to the hospitals.
Mukesh Ambani was the first to have announced free oxygen supply to Maharashtra from his Refinery in Gujarat. On Sunday, JSPL, Tata Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel and SAIL officials said they will diverting oxygen from their plants.
In a tweet, Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel announced that “Ensuring the health and wellbeing of our fellow citizens comes first for us & there is nothing more important than saving lives. We’re doing our bit in this fight against #COVID19. We urge our fellow citizens to stay safe and strictly follow government guidelines #TogetherWeCan.
AM/NS India CEO Dilip Ommen said “In our continued efforts to support the nation. AM/NS India is supplying 200 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen per day to medical facilities in Gujarat. The supply of this crucial medical requirement from our oxygen plant in Hazira, being operated in partnership with INOX Air Products, is in line with our social commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the authorities and safeguard communities during these trying times. Given the unprecedented challenges triggered by the COVID-19 surge, ensuring the health and wellbeing of our fellow citizens comes first for us and there is nothing more important than saving lives.”
In another tweet, JSPL Managing Director said “JSPL has been supplying around 50-100 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen to hospitals in Chhattisgarh and Odisha daily. We can compromise steel production for a while to supply oxygen to the government to save precious lives. Our priority is people first.”
Tata Steel tweeted, “Medical oxygen is critical to the treatment of #COVID19 patients. Responding to the National urgency, we’re supplying 200-300 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen daily to various State governments & hospitals. We are in this fight together & will surely win it! @PMOIndia @TataCompanies.”
SAIL tweted, ” @SAILsteel supplied more than 33,300 Tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (#LMO) of 99.7% purity of #Oxygen for #COVIDRelief from its Intergrated Steel Plants #Bokaro (#Jharkhand), #Bhilai (#Chhattisgarh), #Rourkela (#Odisha), #Durgapur and #Burnpur (#WestBengal). #Unite2FightCorona.”
