Raipur Police on Sunday arrested six persons in two seperate cases for allegedly black-marketing life saving drug ‘Remdesivir’ injection.

According to police sources, based on inputs about the black-marketing of Remdesivir injections, Raipur Police’s Cyber Cell laid a trap and succeeded in arresting Rahul Goyadani (28), a resident of the state capital, on Sunday along with the life saving drug. During interrogation, Rahul admitted of being indulged in the illegal business and also revealed the names of his accomplices following which they were also arrested.

The arrested were identified as Ayush Maheshwari (25), Kamlesh Ratlani (32) and Sumeet Kumar Motwani (27), all residents of Raipur, added the officer.

Police sources further informed that from the possession of accused hoarders, police have recovered seven vials of Remdesivir, Rs 1.38 lakh cash and five mobile handsets. During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed of selling one vial of the life saving drug at Rs 25000. Probe is underway to ascertain the source from where the accused have procured the drugs. In this connection, Moudhapara police and Food and Drug Administration Department registered separate cases against them under preventive sections.

In another case, Cyber Cell arrested two persons identified as Rohit Kshetrapal (25) and Vaibhav Sahu (25), both residents of Raipur, on charges of Remdesivir black-marketing. From them, Cyber Cell seized two vials of injection and Rs 20000 cash.

The accused duo was selling a single vial of injection at Rs 15000, informed the officer.

According to the officer, after learning about the black-marketing of injection by the duo, the sleuths of Cyber Cell laid a trap and caught the duo red-handed selling Remdesivir illegally.
