Defence Minister for seeking cooperation of ex-servicemen in crisis

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took stock of Corona infection and vaccination status in Chhattisgarh from Governor Anusuiya Uike on Tuesday. Both had a telephonic conversation that concentrated on how challenges posed by Covid-19 can be overcome.

The Defence Minister told the Governor that in view of worse Covid situation in the state, the services of ex-servicemen (medical staff), nurses, lab technicians of the Army residing in the state can be taken to deal with this crisis. Along with this, services of Scout and Guides, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, NCC cadets can also be availed. For this, suggestions and cooperation can be sought by having a virtual meeting with the concerned agencies. The Defence Minister has said that the Chief Minister of the state should be informed about these suggestions and discussed.

On the suggestions of the Defence Minister, Governor Anusuiya Uikey telephoned Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and informed about the Defence Minister’s suggestions regarding seeking support of ex-servicemen to deal with the Covid crisis. The Governor told the Chief Minister about holding a virtual meeting with the ex-servicemen.

The Chief Minister welcomed the suggestion of Defence Minister to seek support and cooperation of ex-servicemen in this crisis. The Chief Minister said the suggestions as useful. The Governor told the Chief Minister to hold a virtual meeting with ex-servicemen at the earliest and prepare an action plan which should be effectively implemented in the state.
