In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old woman allegedly bid immolation by jumping into the burning pyre of her father, who succumbed to COVID-19 infection, on May 4 in Barmer district of Rajasthan.
The victim had suffered around 70 percent injury in the incident and was rushed to nearby hospital from where she was shifted to Jodhpur for better medical assistance.
According to police, a man identified as Damodardas Sharda (70) died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at government hospital in Barmer and the hospital authority handed over the body to deceased’s family for last rites as per the COVID protocol. As the funeral pyre was light, the deceased’s daughter Chandra Kala (34) jumped into the pyre. Somehow she was pulled out and was rushed to nearby hospital.
