COVID protocol violated in marriage function of Congress MLA's nephew

TNC Desk, May 10

The ruling-Congress in Chhattisgarh has caught sharp criticism after a video of wedding ceremony with participation of large numbers of people went viral and BJP dubbed it as marring function of Congress state president Mohan Markam’s nephew.

Notably, Markam is the Congress MLA from Kondagaon.

Senior BJP leaders alleged that the Congress MLA had attended the marriage ceremony and termed the entire action as open violation of the COVID guidelines at the time when the state is grappling with the pandemic and lost several lives due to the infection.

In a tweeter post, BJP leader shared a video.

Refuting the allegation, Markam in a statement to ANI said that Lata Usendi alleges that I got my nephew married off like that. She can look at my lineage. Everyone is connected to everyone in villages, it’s not right to call everyone my nephew. If COVID norms are violated, admn takes action.
