Three held for raping health care worker

In a shocking incident, three persons allegedly raped a woman health care worker in Cachar district of Assam, police said Tuesday.
The crime took place on Sunday when the victim was on the way to home from work. On the pretext of offering lift, one of the accused took the victim to a hostel and exploited her sexually along with other accused.
The victim woman was later tested positive for the COVID-19, said police sources, elaborating that all the accused have been arrested and put under isolation at a police station.
Based on the victim’s complaint, police have registered an offence against the accused trio under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and probing the matter further.
