Chhattisgarh State Open School (CGSOS) has come up with a virtual school in the line of The United States of America (USA), Australia etc. to ensure high school and higher secondary students, who are unable to attend regular classes, do not suffer in this Covid crisis as far as their education is concerned.
According to the Secretary of CGSOS, the time has come to make effective use of information and technology in education field and make sure students can continue with their education. Keeping this in mind, CGSOS has set up Chhattisgarh Virtual School for students of open school.
Students can get admission in Class IX, X, XI and XII in Chhattisgarh Virtual School of CGSOS online. Apart from Admission, Study and Examination will be conducted online under this innovative scheme which is first in India. While class IX and X students can study six subjects like Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science and Social Science, class XI and XII students will have option to study Arts, Commerce and Science (Biology or Maths). All the six subjects will be mandatory for Class IX and X students.
NIC has prepared the portal of CGSOS Chhattisgarh Virtual School. Students can use the portal ‘virtualschool.cg.nic.in’ for admission and study. Learning videos, study material, assignment, quiz etc. will be available in the portal. Students can select their mentor for guidance. The syllabus has been reduced by 30 per cent and syllabus of each subject has been divided into 10 units. These units will be uploaded on the website in PDF form. Video lecture will also be uploaded if necessary. When a student clears the assignment of first unit then he or she can see the second unit. A student will be eligible to sit in the main examination only when he or she clears all the units. A class VIII pass or Class IX fail student can take admission in Class IX and the same rules is application for other classes for the academic calendar 2021-22.
CGSOS Secretary V K Goyal said that they have studied the pattern of virtual schools of USA and Australia before implementing the same in Chhattisgarh which has become the first in India to adopt this method of education. Students in USA and Australia, who are unable to attend class, go for virtual schools, said Professor Goyal.
