RAIPUR, May 19

Raipur Police on Monday booked Chhattisgarh’s former Chief Minister and BJP national vice-president Raman Singh, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and others for allegedly forging the letterhead of All India Congress Committee’s Research Department and circulating alleged fabricated content on the letterhead by projecting it as a toolkit developed by Congress to defame the country in foreign media.

The alleged fabricated content projected as Congress toolkit was posted by the former CM Raman Singh and other leaders through their official twitter handle recently, said police sources.

Terming the alleged document posted by Raman Singh and others through their twitter handles as forged and fabricated, National Students’ Union of India’s (NSUI) president of Chhattisgarh unit Akash Sharma lodged a complaint with Civil Lines police station on Wednesday, said a senior police officer.

In his complaint to police, Sharma alleged that Raman Singh, Sambit Patra and others have allegedly forged the letterhead of AICC Research Department and thereafter printing false and fabricated content on the same, in order to share the forged/BJP manufactured document from their verified twitter handles and other social media platforms, with the intent to create communal violence, fuelling hate and spreading fake news, said the officer.

The hidden agenda for posting such content was to divert the attention from the Modi Government’s mammoth failure in providing necessary aid to the people of India, amidst the current pandemic, alleged Sharma in his complaint.

Sharma alleged that BJP seniors including J P Nadda, Sambit Patra, B L Santosh and other BJP functionaries, through their respective twitter handles shared forged and fabricated documents with the intent to create communal disharmony and civil unrest in the country among individuals, escalating violence, fuelling the hate and spreading fake news. BJP functionaries have not only stopped to manufacture fake document to target the Indian National Congress but have also attempted to lower the image of the India at various people platforms i.e. by falsely alleging the patriotic citizen of India are deliberately tarnishing the image of India on the various national and international platforms (needless to mention that the INC and lakhs of Indians are regularly providing community relief during Covid, throughout the country, since March 2020).

The NSUI state’s president alleged that Sambit Patra, BL Santosh along with others on the instructions of J P Nadda prepared a forged and fabricated document, for which they also manufactured the AICC Research Department’s letterhead and thereafter, the forged document was posted.

Following Sharma’s complaint, Civil Lines police registered an offence against the BJP leaders under Section 188, 469, 504, 505(1)(b) and 505(1)(c) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a probe, added the officer.
