ACB caught government officials accepting bribes in Chhattisgarh

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught four government officials, including a janpad panchayat’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), red-handed while allegedly accepting bribes in Chhattisgarh’s separate districts.

The ACB today caught four government officials identified as CEO janpad panchayat (Bilaigarh) in Baloda Bazaar district Kuleshwar Gyakwad (60), patwari (Ungarapal) in Bastar Mukesh Kumar Bisai (27), patwari (Rajpur tehsil) in Balrampur district Amit Gupta (30) and patwari (Lohara) in Kawardha Gajendra Chandravanshi (37) red-handed accepting bribe, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amrita Sori.

After verification of the complaints received against these officials, separate units of ACB laid traps and caught them red-handed with bribe, added ASP Sori.

Sori further informed that the janpad panchayat CEO posted in Baloda Bazaar district allegedly demanded Rs 20000 from the victim for clearing outstanding payment of Rs 3 lakh against shed construction work in a school. Following the victim’s complaint, a team of ACB Raipur laid a trap and caught the accused officer red-handed in Baloda Bazaar district along with a bribe of Rs 20000. Similarly, Jagdalpur unit of ACB caught patwari Mukesh Kumar at his office in Bastar when he was accepting a bribe worth Rs 8000 for transferring the complainant’s land.

In another case, ACB’s Ambikapur unit caught patwari Amit Gupta in Balrampur district along with Rs 40000 bribe amount he took from the complainant for providing the copy of B1, map and khasra, informed ASP Sori.

Similarly, the 37-year-old patwari Gajendra Chandravanshi in Kawardha district was held while accepting bribe of Rs 11000 which he demanded from the complainant for making land record book, added ASP Sori.

Separate offences were registered against these officials and necessary action is being taken against them, informed the ASP.
