Congress stages protest over petrol price hike

Raipur, June 12

Launching a fresh attack on Modi-led BJP government at center over increasing fuel price, Congress in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur staged a unique protest by installing a dummy petrol pump on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Congress workers wearing the mask of PM Narendra Modi, union minister Smriti Irani, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, former Chhattisgarh’s CM Raman Singh staged protest along with the dummy petrol pump at a city-based fuel station.

“In last one month, the country has witnessed fuel price hikes for around 17 times and the Modi-government managed to set a record of taking petrol prices more than Rs 100. The price hike has seriously disturb the monthly budget of people and made their life very tough as well as challenging,” said Congress leader Vinod Tiwari.

Congress workers led by Tiwari were staging sequential protests against the government at center over fuel price hike as per the directives of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. In the latest protest, Tiwari installed a dummy petrol pump and named it as Modi Oil.

Targeting senior BJP leaders and incumbent union ministers, Tiwari said that “these are the same people who used to stage protests frequently over slight hike in fuel price during the tenure of UPA. Now where these people have gone when they have government at center and petrol price crossed Rs 100 per litre.”.
