Raipur, June 18
A joint team of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Friday gunned down a woman naxal in insurgency-hit in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, police said.
“Based on a specific input about presence of CPI Maoist cadres of Darbha division, a joint operation was launched along Bastar-Sukma interdistrict border area by police and CRPF. At around 0800 hrs in the morning there was an exchange of fire between the Bastar DRG team and ultras near Chandameta-Pyarbhat jungles (PS Darbha, District Bastar),” said Bastar Range Inspector General of Police (IG) Sundarraj P.
The IG further informed that during search operation dead body of one uniformed female naxal cadre along with AK 47 rifle, two pistols, one 12 bore, one country-made weapon and huge amount of camping materials were recovered from the spot.
DRG Bastar, DRG Dantewada, Distirct Police force Sukma and CRPF 80 battalion and 227 battalion were involved in this operation, said IG Sundarraj.
