Recognizing the innovative policing moves and steps taken to improve the image of police, an international organisation ‘International Association of Chiefs of Police’ (IACP) has selected Koriya Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Singh for IACP Award 2021.
The international organisation will be conferring the prestigious award to 40 police officers from six countries. This award is given on the basis of assessment of policing works done by officials.
SP Singh has been selected for the award under the category of ‘Under 40’. The award in this category is being given to the officials under the age group of 40 years who have better leadership quality along with the vision of bringing positive change in society with good works and innovative ideas in policing.
SP Singh is being given the prestigious award on the basis of assessment of the work done by him in the direction of better policing as well as improving the image of police in the last eight years.
Notably, the international organisation will be presenting the award to Singh during its annual programme in Texas in October 2022. Earlier, the award was presented to the then Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sheikh Arif Husen, who is currently posted in Chhattisgarh’s capital as Director of the state’s ACB and EOW.
It is to be mentioned here that IPS Santosh Singh was posted in the worst insurgency-hit Bastar region in Chhattisgarh for a long time and while posted as SP Mahasamund, Singh had created a world record by ensuring self-defence training to around 1 lakh children. In this regard, he was awarded by Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu with the Champions of Change award in 2018. Similarly, IPS Singh had played a major role in prevention of infectious disease during the first and second wave of COVID-19 while he was posted as SP Raigarh. On the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan last year, Raigarh Police under the leadership of Singh had distributed around 12.37 lakh masks in a day creating a world record. The effort of Singh was registered in the Golden Book of World Record, Asia Book of Record and India Book of Record.
Currently, Singh has launched a massive campaign against narcotics and drugs in Koriya district of Chhattisgarh.
