Raipur, Nov 5 (PTI)
A joint squad of security forces arrested eight ultras, including six cadres carrying cash reward, in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said on Friday.
A team comprised of District Force (DF) and 201st battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), an elite unit of CRPF, arrested eight naxals from forest near village Morpalli under Chintalnar police station limits on November 4, said Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Sharma.
“Following an input about the movement of insurgents, the joint team launched an area domination exercise on November 2. While combing in forest close to village Morpalli, security personnel intercepted eight suspects who later identified as the cadres of the outlawed organisation,” said SP Sharma.
The arrested cadres were identified as battalion member Kawasi Raju alias Santu, militia company commander Kalmu Mada (25), DAKMS president Komram Kanna (38), militia commander Madkam Hidma (29), DAKMS president Tursam Mudraj (45), CNM commander Madkam Enka (25), militia member Madkam Soma (32) and militia member Madkam Mutta (40), SP Sharma informed.
The officer further added that Kawasi was carrying a cash reward of Rs 8 lakh while the government had announced Rs 5 lakh on Kalmu and Rs 1 lakh each on Komram, Madkam, Tursam and Madkam Enka. During checking, the security forces have recovered batteries, detonators, gelatine rods, wires and other substances from their possession.
The arrested ultras were produced in a local court today from where they were sent to judicial custody.
