In a major breakthrough, a naxal commander was gunned down by security personnel in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Narayanpur district on Monday.
A team of District Reserve Group (DRG) today eliminated a naxal commander in an encounter took place in forest close to village Bahekar under Chotedonger police station limits, said Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Girija Shankar Jaiswal.
“Today a team of DRG leaves for Area Domination Exercise and when the force reached forest of Bahekar, a group of armed ultras opened indiscriminate firing on security personnel. Acting promptly, forces launched a retaliatory action,” said SP Jaiswal.
SP Jasiwal further elaborated that as the firing stopped, forces launches a search in the encounter site resulting in the recovery of the body of a slain ultra in uniform. Besides, one AK-47 was also recovered from the site.
In a preliminary investigation, the slain naxal was identified as commander of company-6 Saket Nareti (30), added the officer.
